Here are the steps to adopt a cat or kitten with A Kitten Place rescue:
- Complete an adoption application.
- Our team reviews your application and contacts you.
- If it’s a good match, we schedule a meet and greet.
- Upon approval, you sign the adoption contract and pay the fee.
- Once complete, you can take your cat or kitten home—please bring a carrier for safety!
Surrendering a pet should always be a last resort. If you’re struggling, please contact us before making the decision to rehome — we may be able to help with resources or guidance.
If you’ve exhausted all other options, reach out through our Contact Us form. Please include the age of the cat and reason for surrender. Rehoming is extremely stressful for cats, especially adults, so we encourage careful consideration before taking this step.
100% of your donation goes directly toward helping kittens and cats. A Kitten Place is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means we do not have paid staff or salaries.
Donations are used for medical care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, food, supplies, and other essentials needed to care for the cats and kittens in our program.
What to do depends on the kittens’ age. If the kittens are clean, warm, and quiet, their mom is often nearby — give her time to return.
If the kittens are very young and mom does not return, they need help immediately. Keep them warm and contact our rescue (or any rescue) as soon as possible. You’re welcome to reach out to us for guidance, and we also have a helpful blog article that explains what to do based on kitten age.
Our adoption fees help offset medical and care costs but do not cover the full expense of caring for a cat or kitten.
-
Adult cats (over 12 months): $75
-
Kittens (under 12 months): $100
-
Two kittens adopted together: $150
We strongly encourage adopting kittens in pairs. A Kitten Place is a volunteer-run rescue, and all fees support the animals in our care.
Yes. A Kitten Place is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please contact us if you need documentation or have questions.
Yes! We have an active TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) program. If you know of a colony that needs help, contact us through our website.
Please include the colony’s location and an estimate of how many cats there are. The more details you can share, the better we can assist.
Yes. We maintain a list of recommended veterinarians on our website. You can also contact us through our website and we’ll be happy to help.
If you witness animal cruelty, abuse, or severe neglect, please contact your local authorities immediately. Call your county’s Animal Control or local law enforcement to report the issue.
If the animal is in immediate danger, treat it as an emergency and call 911. Providing details such as the location, description of the animal, and photos or videos (if it’s safe to obtain them) can be very helpful for authorities responding to the situation.
While rescues like ours care deeply, we do not have legal authority to intervene in cruelty cases — reporting it to the proper authorities is the fastest and most effective way to help.
Still no luck? We can help!
