Become a Foster
Fostering Saves Lives
Foster homes are the heart of our rescue—without them, we couldn’t save the cats and kittens who
need us most. Fostering is essential and incredibly rewarding, giving you the chance to save lives, enjoy
the companionship of our cats and kittens, and experience the deep fulfillment of knowing you helped
make room to save another.

The Heart of Fostering
Opening your home saves lives—and it also comes with important responsibilities.
Below is what you can expect when you become a foster with A Kitten Place.
How Long Will I Foster?
As a foster, you can expect to care for a cat or kitten for an average of 4–8 weeks, although some may need more time due to age, medical needs, or behavior support.
We’ll always discuss the expected time commitment with you upfront so there are no surprises. In most cases, foster families care for their cat or kitten until they find their forever home, providing a loving bridge to their next chapter.
Foster Responsibilities
Fosters provide the love and daily care that help cats and kittens thrive while they wait for their forever homes.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating a safe, clean, and loving environment
- Providing food, fresh water, enrichment, and socialization
- Monitoring health and behavior
- Administering medications as needed
- Transporting to vet appointments and adoption events
- Connecting with adopters to help find the right match
You don’t have to do this alone—our team will guide you every step of the way.
If you’re ready to make a difference, we’d love to welcome you as a foster!
